I finally have my truck so I can drive it. Yesterday while driving it I shifted into third and it backfired out the carb . I continued to drive around and it didn't happen again. So I figured it wasn't warmed up yet. Then today I took it for a longer drive to get some gas in it. It ran fine all the way there but on the way home I pulled away from a stop light and when I shifted into third it backfired out the carb again. It was plenty warm at this point. It doesn't do it every time I shift into third, just those two times so far. Also have a little dieseling when I shut it off.

Sounds like maybe a lean miss/backfire?

Dieseling,,, what does your engine idle at ,,RPM?

You think I maybe need to turn up the mixture screws a little?

I don't have a RPM gauge in the truck, yet. But it doesn't sound high. I am looking for a gauge now that will work with my system.

What carb are you using?
Mods done to engine?
Sounds like an intermitant accelerator squirter?
Mixture screws might help, maybe one step richer main jet??
The engine run on could be a bad batch of gas also.
