Hi guys,

I have a 235 six, 3 speed in my 1955 chevy. It's stock, but I put an HEI in it. what is the plug gap supposed to be for these old engines when you go to an HEI. I hear any where from .40 to .60....

Thanks

Don't you need an extended plug for the HEI?

Hi Twisted, I got my HEI for my 54 235 from Tom Langdon. I need to use an extended tip plug with a larger gap for the higher voltage spark. The HEI is the S-10 unit. You must have also changed your stock coil to an high voltage coil?

I run a HEI with AUTO Lite Plugs 404 if remeber right. I may dig one up. But anyway There is very Little tip sticking out on these plugs NONE of the ceramic part of the tip shows and I run a .045
gap on the plugs with a 50,000 Volt coil. But it
also ran well with the stock coil On the same plugs But when I made up grades to the dist. I up graded all.The dist was set up to run 8500 RPM
with out having any Kinda of issues.
