I picked up a "250" said to be from a buick skylark. The nuber on the engine is 3927968 according to the chart its either a 230 or 250 right? is there any way i can make sure its a 250 besides running "volume test"

I'm sure Larry wouldn't have posted that, if you couldn't.
If your building an inline (GM 6) from that era, Leo's book will be a big help too and It's cheaper here, because there's no shipping.
Good luck.

If you can't see in there, use a long screw driver, and see if you can feel the step on the far side. It's probably close to a 1/4 of an inch.
