I have a head that I need help determining the size and whether or not it would be a good option to run on a 292? It has obviously had some work done (porting, etc.).
The casting #'s are
3824435 (could be 3824485)
A2464 (I figur this is a date code)

Do you have any pics of the chambers?
It look like it needs Larry's bolt in lumps.
If it is in good shape,(no cracks etc) you should be able to use it on a 292.

The 3824435 is a 194 So could the 3824485 head.(yr62)
A 3824437 would have been a 230 OR a 292 with a 72.80 CCs
A bolt-in lump kit will bring the The CFMs in Either head.
The question i have is Your head bolt Flat Or tappered?Reason I ask is because It looks like it is cut VERY Deep into the head. More then what I think/Feel it should have been.

I will flip it over tonight and get some pics of the chambers. I will also get some better pics of the holes for the head bolts. I don't know much about the setup, I got it along with a 292 already taken apart. How do bolt in lumps install and where? I am still learning about these 250 & 292's. I have a '54 Belair still running the 235, and I already have a decent running 235 that I will use in my '53 until I get this 292 ready to go in.

They bolt into the intake port once the head bolt boss is Or has been removed. They bolt-in from the
Head gasket side of the head.with a small allen/cap screw.Which is counter sunk into the
head.(small 8/32 screw)

Larry
I was sittting here trying to stay warm on a beautiful zero day, and started to wonder if a bolt in lump could be made in two pieces to install around the boss and would it give a stock or nearly so street engine an increase in low end performance and MPG. It seems like it would keep the runners small and give better flow into the cylinders at low RPMs which would / might improve street use. Have no idea just thinking out loud.
Opinions anyone

Been there, Done that, Hope to live long enough to do it again.
