Hi, would it be a big no no to use a single 2 in 2 out muffler on a 235 split exhaust? Seems like it would be easier/cheaper than duals all the way out with a balance pipe. I don't like too much rap that's why I'm thinking single muffler or a balance pipe. Maybe both? Anyway, interested in your thoughts. Thanks, Dennis

I run Fentons on a modified 261,2 inch head pipes about 18 inches long blended into a 2-1/2 inch pipe, and a Hooker Aeroflow muffler, short exhaust exit just in front of the rear wheel Sounds good to my ears, aggressive and smooth, great power from idle to 4500 rpm.I dont personally care for the rough rappy sound from traditional non connected duals on and inline engine.

Others were meant for imports like Mercedes but seemed like a small pipe size. I haven't looked for a while though. I like the look (shotgun exhaust?) if you have the room.

Check on a OEM or aftemarket replacement Buick Grand National (turbo V6) muffler - last I checked they were about $75, and sound great on an inline six. You can also get them in stainless steel from Bassani.

Summit and Jegs have some good duel in, duel out mufflers for a decent price...the flowmaster is cheaper than the magnaflow, but i think u will like the magnaflow better for the inline. I have heard that flowmasters sound good, but magnaflow has a slightly better sound for our inlines because of its design.
got my 78 merc with a 250 I6 and i love it.

Thanks for all the replys. So far I don't see a problem with the 2 in 2 out idea. Tony, I assume yours is 2 out vs splitting the pipe. I hadn't really thought about blending into one, but why not? I think I'll roam around Bassani site. I've never heard of them before.

I was talking to a Flowmaster rep today at the Super Chevy Show at Maple Grove Dragway in PA and it seems the only 2in,2out muffler they have that would fit is for a modern SUV such as a Toyota or Nissan. It has a rumble, but not loud, no blaaats. It is a shorty though which means it might be easily fitted. Flowmaster as you may know are not inexpensive.
