Are there any good books out there that any of you would recomend about rebuilding, getting more power, performance mods, etc. Maybe anything specific to the 292 or at least that series of chevy inlines. thanks \:D

John, Click on Club Stuff in the blue sidebar and scroll down to Leo Santucci's "Chevrolet Inline - 6 Cylinder Power Manual". Everything you ever wanted to know about powering 292's and stuff you will be astonished by, well maybe. ;\)
Lots of great illustrations too.

Related question: Any helpful books for flathead
Mopar engines? Old ones are OK, you can find them now that we have the web.

John, CatDog is correct. Santucci's "power manual" is a great book! It has a ton of information in it, no matter how wild you want to go.

Sorry Leif, I don't know of any Mopar "hot rod 6 cyl." books. If there are any, someone on here will know.

Hey cool, thanks guys. Yeah, my motor has some life left in it but I can feel it getting tired so I'm just trying to figure out what route to take...basic rebuild with some mild upgrades over stock on my existing engine or and get another block and just start on a real performer to build and drop in so my truck doesn't see much downtime. And Armond, when I get my off-road Jeep project rolling, guess what engine I may look for to base it on, lol, thanks for the link.

Leif, Look up Don Coatney on the Mopar forum. He has posted some great stuff on Mopar Flatheads, his engine and tranny info are tops, and may have sources for you. I copied his set up for for an engine test/run in bed for my Chevy 235. Crude, but it works. Oh,yeh.Blueskies has some neat stuff too on the Mopar forum. Check his car/kid video. Cool!Contact them. They both might have book/info sources for you.
