Getting ready to install my new wiring harness I purchased from Chevy Duty and noticed none of the wires go to the fuse block. Originally there were wires going to it about 3or4,but I can't remember wich terminals they went to. It's a 1955 2nd series pickup 12 volt system.Believe it or not with the 3 or 4 wires going to it only 1 fuse was installed in the FUSE BLOCK .If any of you canhelp me out on the other wires that go to the box would be a great help. THANKS THERE INLINERS.

We'll I'm back again on the fuse block problem, went to the Stovebolt Forum and no results there. Can someone out there tell me how would you terminate your radio,windshield wiper heater etc.etc. to the fuse block? I know there is one fuse that takes care of the headlights, turning lights and so on.I know it's got to be real easy,but not easy enough for me wihtout a schematic of some sort. Anyway somebody look up under your dash for me and trace your wires from the fuse block to the electrical components I was earlier talking about. Thanks there INLINERS.

I don't know how similar '55 Chevy car and truck fuse blocks are, but try this.
www.55-57chevys.com
It is the site for the Central Oklahoma Chevy Club.Go to the reference section,click on 1955-57 GM Assembly Manual,click on 1955,and scroll down to Section 12, Electrical Instruction.Maybe this will help you some.

Dear Haley;

My 57 3200 has no fuse block & I don't think the 55 does either. I can't remember one on my 59.

The wipers run off of the gas guage & the radio from the Ing. switch.

This is the way GM did it back then. The 'fuse block' didn't come to be until the 60-64 series.

All of the lights have a fuse & circuit breaker built into the headlight switch. The electric wiper motor has a circuit breaker built in too. All the acessories have their own fuse each & run off the ignition switch.

I have a (57) diagram & a parts truck if you need more help.

Good luck, John M...

"This is the way GM did it back then."

John,Wow.I never knew that. Why would GM do that when their cars had fuse blocks then? Would it have been that much of a cost saver or they fiqured trucks were trucks, so who needed the extras?

Hi...Fuse blocks were an add on back in the mid 50's. No option vehicles didn't come with one because they were just basic, but as soon as you added a heater or electric wipers then you needed a fuse block. My 56 pickup has one and it's very much the same as a car fuse block. I have heater, electric wipers, spot light and radio in my truck.

You guys really have me thinking now if the fuse block thats in my 55 was an add on or what? In any case I still plan to use it, had I known the new wire harness was not a part of the fuseblock I would have marked the wires somehow.I'd even called up a Tech. there at chevy duty and he said no wires in the harness terminated to the fuse block and didn't even know if trucks that year even had fuseblocks?We'll keep your replys coming I really appreciate all of them. THANKS INLINERS.

Hi again..I just looked in my "Chevrolet 1957 Passenger car and Truck Accessories Installation manual" and found accessory junction block installation instructions for both car and truck. If you like I can scan them and send them to you. E-mail me myoldyellowcar@kootenay.com

Dear Halley;

I would keep it like the factory made it & save yourself a lot of grief. Your new harness is made to work that way.

Your tech just told ya. Believe it!
