Inliners International Forums General Discussion Engines GM's new I-6

I'm intrigued by the possibility of using one of those new "Vortech I-6" engines in my '51 Chevy P/U. Any ideas where I could find more info on that engine? So far my web search hasn't revealed much.

I think there's a reprinted article on the new GM 6 right here on the website. So far, the GM Corporation is not releasing their new "Vortech I6" as a crate motor yet.[If I'm not mistaken].
There's a rare chance you might get one off a wrecked Trailblazer or Envoy.
What's got me is the new "I-5." I just can't imagine an odd cylindered inline.

The L5 uses a balance shaft to smooth things out, not needed on the L6. Check EBay for used motors, they can be had cheap because many were replaced under warranty due to a bad run of cylinder liners. Whether anyone has successfully repaired one of these, I can't say. The big problem if fitting the L6 to another vehicle is the front sump oil pan, but that's been fixed by an Inliner who adapted an L5 pan for clearance.

engine that was millitary issue
that they appearently didnt use
that was on Ebay the other day.
