Hello all I am interested in putting in power steering into a 54 chevy bel air.I have updated the engine to a 68 chevy 250 6 cyl.It has a power steering pump that it came with.Are there any after market power steering units that fit this year and make.any help would be appreciated.

With the original frontend, you could try locating a 53-54 power steering setup. The show up on ebay from time to time. You will need the column, the bracket that mounts it to the frame, and the pitman arm.
Otherwise, Jamco supposedly has come out with a PS setup for the 49-54 cars, but I don't personnally know anything about it.

I was thinking about looking into the possibility of adapting the steering from a 41-48 car. If possible, then using a "normal" box could be done. It would be similar to what Buffalo offers for a steering update on the 41-48 cars.

Thank you for the reply.I will look up those refrences you gave me.I do have the original front end also.i will post any other suggestions i find to help you out as well.
