I'm putting my 250 chevy back together and I'm curious about the right sealants to use. I did this engine last time and it leaked like a pin cushion.
I've got some copper casket spray that a restorer friend of mine swears by for everything.
I'm using some aluminum parts.

Any advise?

I just finished my build and have no leaks. I used black RTV (silicone). The secret is to have the metal CLEAN. C. L. E. A. N.

I used lacquer thinner to wipe down the surfaces BEFORE I put the gaskets on, applied RTV to both sides, assembled, and torqued to spec. Be especially careful at the oil pan. If the end gaskets aren't installed right, they will leak like sieves.
