Ok so here is what I have. I have a 81 gmc truck which has a integrated head. When working on it, the engine feel to the ground and broke part of the carb, emissions control, and the exhaust manifold bolt. So I bought a 292 with a bunch of hi performance parts and now I don't know if I want to switch motors. So here is the questions: Can you put a 292 head on a 250 block? How hard is it to get the 292 installed in my truck?

Thanks for any help.

I think you will be pleased with the torque of a 292 over a 250. The motor mount on the pass. side is different than on a 250, but nothing that cant be resolved from a salvage yard or home do-it-yourselfer.

Thanks for the info. I was just wondering if the head of a 292 is compatible with a 250?

Changing to the early style head on your 250 will involve a few changes, but nothing too difficult. You will likely need to modify the throttle linkage, fuel line, exhaust and possibly power steering pump mount is so equiped.

The 292 will require the same changes plus moving the right side motor mount. It may just require moving from one set of holes in the frame to another. As long as the performance upgrades on the 292 are not too radical, you may really enjoy the the extra torque and power;I am rather biased to the 292 however.....

This is an unusual post, most folks would be throwing the integrated head 250 in the backyard and working overtime to get the 292 installed. BTW, there are adapters for this swap in the classifieds.
