Looking to upgrade the single Rochester to a dual carb set up on my stock 65 C10. I had initially thought of using a Clifford 4 barrel manifold with a 390 cfm carb. I ran 2 Carter W1`s on my 55 pickup and found the response off idle to be lacking. What would be a good pair of carbs to run on a stock 230 with a split exhaust? Which manifold would be recommended?

I have had very good results using pairs and triples of the Holley/Weber pinto/Vega carbs. Progressive two bbls with small primaries and larger secondaries. Very tunable. Just remember to heat the bottom of the intake. You will be much happier if this is a street motor. There is another Weber two bbl that Tom Langdon at Stovebold engine co. uses that may be a little better and easier to come by than the pinto/vega units. I ran a pair of carter YF's on one of my 235's. Had off idle issues and fouling until I heated the bottom of the intake with water. that helped a bunch.

From a Ford Escort 1.6 / 1.9 - before they switched to fuel injection.
