hi, every one, bad news is I'm a ford flat head guy, good news is I'm building a 31 chev coupe like I had in high school 34 years ago, with inline power, I'm looking for a caw valve cover that has beeb mentioned on this board before, or any cover that is unusual, any help will be appreciated, I live in rust free az, If I can help anyone with sheetmetal, let me know, I run a body shop and came from n.h. origionally. I know what you guys deal with RUST, thanks

Dear 32;

There are 2 types of valve covers for the 235. One uses the rocker studs to attach & the other uses 4-1/4" casp screws. That one is the 'later' (55-62) version etc.

Now Patrick's sells a Wayne finned aluminum one that's nice. Also; the guy in Penta Luma has all the McGurk patterns & might could make one of those up.

There are chrome ones too which are the stock type, just plated.

I saw your reference to CAW valve covers and have been meaning to respond. I have heard speculation that CAW stands for "Colorado Aluminum Works" - still others say that it is a monogram of some guys initials - who knows for sure. My research has turned up zero documentation on these things.

Also, I have only ever seen one of them - and when I did I bought it! If you've never eyeballed one before - here you go:

As you can see they ain't flashy - just a rough casting - and you'll need a stud kit to use one of them on a 235.

I intend to use it on my 216 build . . .

I guess they are kinda rare cause I have never seen another since.

BTW you could post on the 'Parts Wanted' page by following the 'Classifieds' link on the left.
I have acquired several 216 goodies this way.

thanks everyone, at least I know what they look like, probably wouldn't take much to make, I'll keep looking.

CAW stands for a gentleman's name. I don't exactly remember it right now. Anyway, I looked up the title records and visited the address. The last word I have from others in the Denver area, is that he passed away long ago, and the patterns, etc, were finally thrown out. Nice workmanship.
