ok my camshaft thrust plate has a nick @ 2 o clock can i still use it an if i can is it ok to flip it over to the side with out wear i would love to replace it but can't find one ???

and when i got the block back from the machine shop there is no oil filter by pass valve in the block ?? where can you find one of them baby's the part store people look @ me like i'm from outer space when i ask

Here is the bypass valve.

I always plug it with a small freeze plug. All the oil will get filtered. Many new designed filters have bypass provision built in.

I have the cam plates listed on my website. You can just flip yours over. Tom

You can put a pipe plug in the bypass hole.

that was the next question if i change oil religiously can you just block it off

Yep, if you see your oil pressure going down,could be because the oil filter is getting plugged, I personnaly have not seen this happen, but I suppose it could.
I change my oil sooner than recommended anyways.

Rev.Ken, I've been able to order the plates from my G.M. dealer....don't have the part # with me but will look it up this evening....Mellings used to service this part but the last I checked it was on factory backorder.....fats
