now car backfires with vacuum advance hooked up at 2000 rpm it does not back fire with off help thanks

You could also limit the advance internally of the HEI & run the higher initial timing.
Or adjust vacuum canister if it is adjustable?

Not sure what you want to do? Reduce the vacuum to the canister, retard the timing by turning housing clockwise?

IIRC,if I remember correctly, turn the allen clockwise.
Do you have any directions for the canister. Only aftermarket ones I believe are adjustable.

im sure it adjust because it cam with allen and today i checked to see if it fits it does it didnt have any directions
