Does anyone know up to what year they made the 292 engine block out of high nickel for a stronger engine block.?

I have a 1978 block and I don't know if its the good kind of 292 block.?

Thanks

You might try these guys:

Even if they have no L6-specific info, you could bet that if the metalurgy was the same for big and small blocks of a given year, then the inlines were probably made of the same stuff.

Hi: I really have no knowledge on your question, but wonder if it wouldn't be a save bet that marine applications would be the ones with more nickel to inhibit rust. Just a thought.

I have been block seaching and found 63-66 292 blocks have .040 more material around the cylinder walls. It also has a little more material on the deck. This block was prone to crack in the 2nd freeze plug area. The block I have looks O.K. as for a higher nickel block I dont think there are any because the motors never intended to be performance engines.
