Do you intend to use the original drivetrain? If so, the fan fit is the least of your problems as most people would just move the radiator forward for clearance. A 261 would be a more easily installed selection for the original drivetrain.

No, I don't intend to use the original drive-line. It will be a 700r4. I plan to use an electric fan.

hi- I'm putting a 292 with 5-speed manual into my 53 pickup. Engine is longer.... contact Tom Langdon at stovebolt for motor mounts. Make or buy a tranny crossmember and it will work. You will probably need to modify cab (I did) to clear the valve cover. Are you using stock front suspension?? If not, you may be able to push the engine forward more than I did, thus eliminating the cab firwall mods. Let me know how it goes. Do you have power steering on your 292???? I can't find bracket for pump; let me know what you have on your set-up thanks

No power steering on my 292. What is the problem with the engine position and the stock suspension?

If you go too far forward, it looks like the oil pan would hit front crossmember..... Mine is a 3/4 ton though. My water pump pulley is about an inch from the radiator (stock radiator location). I'm not sure if the oil pan or the water pump would be the constraint if I went furher forward; I chose to leave a little clearance at both locations and cut the firewall. good luck........let me know what you end up doing.
