I have been running my 40 Chevy with a mild GMC 302 for 20 years using the same park plugs that came with the used engine. They are Champion 1J11Y. I also have a an HEI distributor powering the plugs. They work fine but I'd like to replace them before they disintegrate. They seem to run just about right heat wise with a light tan color on the insulator. Any suggestions for modern replacement plugs?

Hi Radar . . . Green Spark (in the UK) is a great place to get cross reference info to modern plugs (not to mention specs): The Green Spark Plug Co You might also check ebay - there's alot of NOS plugs still floating around - for example item 251352595738 is a set of eight J11Ys. regards, stock49

NGK 3332 plugs work great with a high voltage coil and/or an HEI. I am running a set gapped at 0.050 inches with an HEI distributor and they work much better than the original AC R44 plugs. Starts easier and idles smoother.

I run the AC R43 plugs, this is with 6 LS coils and a Mega-Squirt engine management.

Is that a typo, 1J11Y? Or is it J11Y As far as I know a '1' in the first position is not a valid part number: Spark Plugs UK
