I have a 292 chevy (fresh). lit it and within 20 seconds lost oil pressure. It pumped 40 lbs. with a drill motor and on fireup dropped to 20 then 5 by the time i shut it down. I have a system 1 filter with the bypass blocked. I know i have to tear it down but i am asking if anyone has any suggestions on where i might have gone wrong on the assembly. thanks

Check the cam bearings. I have seen this before. Seems to be a problem with the type of bearings. What brand did you run?

To help this problem not happen, every cam I sell gets the bearing journals polished.

Thanks for your response. Now I have a buyer beware story and proof of my ignorance. I bought a system 1 filter at a swap meet, it loked good so I put it on my motor. It seems that system one makes multiple filters for many applications, and because I was I`m close mode I didn`t notice that the one I had was for fuel. I finally noticed when I checked the filter for metalflake. It was plugged solid with assembly lube and oil. Good news is bearings are fine, don`t know about the cam but I just ran it for 15 minutes at 2000 rpm with 45 to 50 psi.
