As above mentioned..

I'm about to shop gearbox and want to choose the right one. I'm not in USA, so limited on availability and price on gearboxes.

Have got a low mileage 4L60E offered, but am afraid it's not gonna work without hi-tech setups etc etc...

Thanks!

Just thinking a bit more into your question.

IIRC, you could make the valve body so it is only a manual shift type valve body, meaning you would have to shift the trans manually for every gear change.

Thanks Hank.

I also have to say that I have no intention of using the car for more than cruising and of course a little show of now and then.

So maybe I should just choose a th350 with a torque converter and then forget about OD..

It's getting a bit pricey if I Have to spend another 750$ on a ECU..

A stock used auto trans is easy 500$ and up

You might be able to find a 4L60 (no E) that you could use. It is basically the same as a 700R4.

There is another way to do this:

Use transgo's kit to control the line pressure
4l60 line control

And then use a pair of toggle switches to shift the forward gears, I did this for quite a while before installing a controller.

Use a vacumm switch and a relay to control the L/U converter.

Or if you don't like the toggle switches then I can provide a kit that will run the gears - you will need to move the shifter to select the gears though.
