I have a T5 out of a '94 S10, and have recently found out that this trans has a Ford bolt pattern where it bolts to the bellhousing, not the typical GM pattern. Does anyone know of an adaptor or anything to fit a Ford transmission onto a Chevy bellhousing?

Also, what is the GM input shaft depth and pilot bushing diameter?

I'm just curious...do you know for a fact that the transmission came from an S-10 or was that what you were told? What happens is... guys put S-10 tailhousings on the Ford T5 transmissions so they can put them in older Mustangs and Falcons. People will look at the transmission and identify it as an S10 transmission based on the tailhousing. The reason I'm mentioning this is the input shaft length is also different on the Ford T5. I saw an adapter for puting an s10 transmission in a Ford on EBay in the past. But the only adapter I can find now is...EBay Item number: 4617691375 and it's pretty pricey.

Pulled it from the truck myself. Came from behind a 2.5 I4, but the numbers break down to a WC unit, so it should be strong enough. I niavely assumed that since it was a GM, it had the same pattern to mount to the bellhousing... Since, I have found out that all T5's after a certain date have Ford patterns.
I'm planning to put this behind either a Chevy 230 or 292, so need either a swap bellhousing or an adapter to fit it to a Chevy bellhousing.

Would this trans even have the correct input shaft length and pilot bushing diameter though?

Lakewood makes a bellhousing to put the Ford trans to the Chevy engine. Picey, but available. Check out a Summit catalog, that's where I saw it.

Yeah, that's pretty pricey, and I'm not looking for SFI approval since this won'tbe a drag car. From the data I've found online, (see "T5 mounting diagram", here: http://www.fortesparts.com/catalog.cfm?catalogID=2 ) it seems that Chevy and Ford have approximately the same input shaft length??? So that might work.

The trans uses the standard size hole for the input shaft in the bellhousing, so I might also try getting a generic steel bellhousing (like from Speedway) and drilling the new bolt pattern in it.

How about a bellhousing from a late model S-10 with a 4.3? It should bolt to the 230/292 OK and will have the correct bolt pattern.

Only problem I can see might be the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder. What type vehicle are you usinf it in?

Actually, you can hook up a Ford pattern T5 to a Small Block Chevy pattern by using either a late seventies, early eighties Jeep 151 bellhousing (left) or a 83-86 4.3L Astro Van\Safari bellhousing (right). The Jeep bell can be had for around $50.

Awesome! I don't see a clutch fork hole on the Jeep b/h, I assume it uses a hydraulic throwout bearing?

The Jeep bell has a clutch fork hole and is a mechanical set up. Although I think some are also hydraulic.

FYI for the 292 crowd::
if you're putting the T5 behind a 292 you do NOT have to worry about cutting any thing (pilot bush end or input outer housing) off

I'd think a adaptor plate would be an easier deal. Check with Bullalo, if anybody has one he does.
