I am looking at a Ford F100 pickup I might buy.It has a 300 six in it.Who can tell me both and bad things about them? I have always been a Chevy six fan and will be till I die,but I like Ford trucks.I have a 1967 longbed half ton right now with a 360 in it.It's time to upgrade to something a little newer.Ford built the 300 for 30 years,so it must be a good design, right? Ok Ford people, what say you ? EvilDr235

I'm not a Ford guy but my brother and father both are. My dads been around a while and knows everything. He says the 300 six is bulletproof. Hence the 30 years of production.

Not sure whih came first, chicken or egg? but from what I've seen of the L6 300 Ford, it's almost a mirror image of a 292. I changed a fuel pump on one for a buddy, the fuel pump was in front of the motor mount on the _drivers side! I think there is a Ford specific inline website.

Possibly something like: www.FordSix.com I couldn't pull it up from my saved favorites, so it may be defunct now.

Thank you for the quick replies.I am going to look at the truck this morning. It belongs to the daughter of the original owner. It has the 300 six,auto.trans(C4),dual tanks,AM/FM radio, new battery, new master cylinder, new tires,a few minor dings in the bed, camper shell.Overall it is a pretty clean pickup.I will post a update later on.Thank's again, EvilDr235

Well I went and looked at it again and bought it.Well as it turns out it also has power brakes and power steering. The engine is very quiet and has plenty of power. It rides and steers good.Got luckey on this one.I wanted something older like this so I don't have to do bi-yearly smog checks and no computer junk under the dash. The dual tanks are factory and a flick of a switch on the dash changes from one tank to the other. It also has a place to mount a second battery and I already have all the stuff to add another one.All this for $1,550.00--I will also be adding a aftermarket electric fuel pump.
