I'm trying to use a factory air cleaner with a 2bbl Holley Weber carb. The shape of the top of the carb makes it difficult to use the cleaner I have. I have bought a used cleaner and trimmed it out to fit over the carb, but would like to use a piece of gasket or rubber to help seal it at the bottom. It would need to be about 1/2" thick. Any of you know what I might look for that would provide some seal against the irregular shape, but be resistatn to fuel damage?

Thanks!

Tom Langdon sells air cleaners, with a gasket, for the 2-barrel Holley-Weber. Mr. Gasket, McMaster-Carr, etc., sell fuel-resistant gasket sheets. Why does it need to be 1/2" thick?

I'm trying to mate the original style air cleaner to the irregular shape of the carb. I have one of Tom's, I'm just trying to make it look original without going back to a 1bbl.

Greetings . . .

Perhaps a piece of phenolic tube would do the trick:

Professional Plastics

This is the same material that used for carb spacers so it is impervious to fuel and cleaning solvents.

The challenge will be to find a source for a small section - since you only need a 1/2 inch.
