On the 194 vs 250, x2 for me on that.
In my 63 SS I swapped the stock 194 for a stock (tired) 250.
The 194 3 on the tree would just bog off the line.
The 1st thing that 250 did when I popped the clutch was lay 2 black streaks in my driveway.

Measured 0-60mph dropped from 13.0 to 10.7 sec
(remember this is a worn 3 on the tree, takes about a full second for the messy 1-2 shift...)

If you multiply by 2x, using a 250 is like replacing a 396 Rat with a 502 Rat - most of us would "click" on that right away.
All the go-fast parts will work better on a 250 as well. Or of course a 292, but the 250s are nearly give-away as noted above.
