Things have been a little slow around here. I thought I would post a little pick me up It is a stock Ford 300 w/TO4b25 turbo w/air intercooler. The car has a ton of chassis work done to it. I talked to the owner and a new motor is in the works. http://www.streetfire.net/video/turbo-49-ford-maverick_727606.htm

Did he tell you how much boost he is currently running. No, I'm guessing 7-8 psi.

Yeah my car is alot heavier than 2700 lbs. Try adding 1000 to that #. That is a neat setup though. Bet it is more than 7-8 , probably more like 15 psi. Tom

Light weight and chassis preparation may tell the tale here. This Maverick is probably 700 pounds (or more) lighter than Tom's El Camino, and it is clearly putting all the power it has to the ground.
With an engine built to use all of the potential of the chassis, this thing should become truly fast . . . and much harder to handle.
God's Peace to you.

Hank they are very close to the same weight as a 302. Now I know what to do with my 300 :D.

iron headed 302 weighs 460. Can't find a weight on a 300.

490 lbs, with stock manifolds, dry. A similar 302 with cast iron manifolds weighs 520 lbs dry.

The 120 MPH tells you he is making some power,,most likely,,,,a lot of torque, since it's a stock long block.
How much does a stock 292 weigh complete?

Not sure, but my Elky could probably tell you they are heavy when coming out of a combine, complete with bellhousing and flywheel.

MBHD The 300 block is a pretty lightweight casting compared to the 292. But the 300 head is considerably heavier that a Chevy siamese head. So they are also going to be fairly equal in weight, probably within 10-20 lbs. of each other if not closer.

From the info I have gathered, a Chevy 250 L6 is about 100 lbs lighter than a standard cast iron SBC.
So a 292 is maybe 50 lbs heavier than a 250? I would think it's a lot heavier than a 250.

I have weighed a few 292's before, but they were full of grout in the water jacket. With this done they weighed about the same as a SBC. So however much the grout adds to the blocks weight, which is about another 40 lbs. or so. Subtract the grout, and you'd be about right that a 292 is about 50 lbs. more than a 250.

I did not get a PM back from the owner but I did find this.
Car specs: the motor is stock out of a 1984 ford truck with 110,000 miles on it, weighs 3028 and has a c6 no brake and a 9" on a 295 drag radial.

FYI http://www.team.net/sol/tech/engine.htmlUnfortunately no 292 or 300 info, but a 250 @440 +50 = 490 s/b pretty close for a 292............Joe

Mighty6, I still think that is pretty impressive to be a fairly low budget racer. Just goes to show that its not always about how much you spend to make something fast. Thanks for sharing it.
