I ended up fabricating a completely new linkage on my 261. I found some nice little ball joints at the hardware store that took threaded rod and screwed right into the holes in the bell crank and carburator. Then I bent the accelerator pedal rod so it matched up with the linkage, shortened it and cut threads on it to fit the ball joint I bought. I adjusted it so flooring the pedal opened the throttle butterfly all the way and it works just fine. I added a spring in there somewhere too.
