You bid what you want to pay, if someone bids more, they want it more than you do, even using the snipe programs. When I sell things I really like to see bidding wars where 2 or 3 bidders keep upping the bid by a few dollars over the week, because I always wind up getting more than I originally wanted.

I know all that, it just ticks me off to get out bid in the last few seconds on a bid that set there for days. No chance up my bid. I know what I want to pay but I might pay more. I guess the snipers have saved me a lot of money and cost sellers a bundle.

Have you guys heard of snipeware?

Here is an example. http://www.ebay.com/itm/330937541145?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

It will bid at what ever minutes, seconds you want your bid to be placed for you automatically.

You don't have to be up @ 2 or 4 in the morning when an auction ends, your computer & having snipeware will place the bid for you.

This type of software has been around for years & I have used it for many years, saves time & money & you don't need to loose sleep.

Don't whine about it just buy the software. It's $11.95, don't skimp out, cut back on your beer for a day LOL & buy the software.

I have saved a lot of money with this type of software, there are a lot of people that do not have this & guys that keep bidding back & forth from day 1 on a auction are & usually do not get a great deal. two cents thrown.

I will put in my proxy bid, something I am willing to pay for an item, say $100.00, say no body bids on the item except for the last few seconds of an auction, say they bid $80, I set my software to bid 2 seconds before the auction ends, remember, my proxy bid is $100, so if that person bids $80 3 seconds before the auction ends, my computer bids $81 & I would win the auction for 81 dollars, not the $100 that was my proxy bid.
Hope that makes sense & hope some of you now know how this software works.

I know you are right it's just me. Sniping is to auctions what bracket racing is to drags. It's just not right. \:D I don't need any more junk anyway. I should be selling. \:\)

Sniping is good for sellers too \:\) I had a Unilite distributor jump from $31.00 to over a $100 in the last 30 seconds with 11 bids from sniper programs. \:D

In that case maybe it was good for you but I think in most cases snipers cut off bids by stealing auctions in the last seconds at lower bids than would have been made. Two guys with sniper software cut out all other bidders and it is very likely that they were not the two highest bidders just the most high tech. All in all I think sniper software sucks.

Ol' Hank Thompson once recorded a song with Jr. Brown called "Gotta Sell Them Chickens Before They Die (and the eggs before they hatch)". Sort of applys here in a Polish sort of way. They both taste better than timing covers (timing covers are like possum and duck-too oily-but they will make a lot of gravy!)

I figure there should be a software out there that fools the sniper software by not telling it when it has reached the level of the winning bid.

Just as ethical as the sniping programs themselves. ;\)

However, as I understand it (anybody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) Proxy bidding, which is built in on the bay, still means you win, if the bid you are willing to go to is the highest.

Just be carfull on auctions with reserves, if you REALLY want something, and the reserve is set crazy high, I have seen the auction amount jump to match the reserve if your proxy bid is high enough (at which point you bought it, if it's that high no one else will bid and you made a legitimate bid, so you're stuck).

I have a 2 and 3 piece version I am making some prototype pieces for now. I have my foundry furnace in place and have an order of raw aluminum on order(500 lbs)on the way. I have the patterns made and ready to melt some aluminum.
The 3 pc cover will offer no advantage over the 2 pc cover, im just making that style because a lot of guys just seem to like the idea of one.

I went with a 3 piece since that was all that was available.

Note to all, there may be minor clearance issues if using Walt Pearce's balancer with a three piece. Something to check before final casting eh?

Hey thanks for the heads up. I have a Walt Pearce balancer. Are you saying the 3 piece needs to have the top shaved off the cover or the balancer spaced out?

Thats just another common issue with trying to use parts that aren't necessarily designed for the US market that dont interchange 100% with our engines.

I didn't realize that the Chev inline 6 cylinder engines in South America were that significantly different than our engines?

I Think the issue is that Walt's balancer is larger than what is being used.
A little bit of clearancing to give us .060 clearance between the cover and balancer and all is good.

If other options were available when I was looking then I would have considered those.

Most everything interchanges without problems, but those covers are designed to be used with a specific timing set that is probably why they are a little thicker than the ones our covers are designed to use. But if you didn't have to grind a little here or drill a little there it wouldn't be hotroddin'.

I've been looking into a homemade conversion using a cut out stock cover with a bolt on finned aluminum cover. Staying away from the crank seal and sealing that edge are my concern. You can't wait forever or pay more than a part is worth.

Well I got one. I guess when you post on inliners word gets around. Damn thing was pricey but it was the same price as quoted from Sissel. I guess I should have built a Rat Rod if I wanted to do this on the cheap. \:\(

The secret to building a good hot rod is to never - ever - take all the receipts from the build and tally them up. Some things are best left unknown. cool
