I had mentioned to a few others a while back about acquiring an old machine shop building and needing to take it down and re-erect it on my farm. Here are a few pics of it. I will be setting up my aluminum foundry and other shop stuff inside of it once I get it put back up. The building size is 50'x 100' and has (2)12' rollup doors with one having a loading dock with retractable dock plate. I can't wait!

Scott, Looks great. Yes, the loading dock will be a big plus for delivery and pickup for sure. Plenty of good, used forklifts available too if you need one. That, unfortunately is a sign of business failure. So here is wishing you the best on this business adventure. Pictures of disassembly and reassembly would be interesting to see sometime. Good Luck!

Drew, the owners of the shop actually retired, but the economy at the time of their retirement did play a role in their decision. It's definately going to be a process to break it down and relocate to my property and re-erect.

That is a lot of room. It will be a great shop. Good luck with your re-erection.

Thanks Hank and everyone, it's kind of been a waiting game and trying to get a lot of elements to align properly so I can move forward in a productive way and not have to do and redo things unnecessarily.

Have a lot of cordless impact batteries ready! It will be a little work to set up, but a great shop when it gets going. Congratulations. Jay6155

Nice size building. Big enough to section off different areas. Looks to be in decent shape too and priced right.
It will be a job to teardown and put up!

I'll be facing a deadline to get it taken down because of the new property owners, so i'll probably have to just hire it out to get it done quickly to satisfy them.

Check with some of the local metal building companies to see who erects their buildings. A long time ago I designed, sold, and built Pre-engineered buildings, we had a 80 man crew and took on projects such as yours to keep our crews busy all of the time. Some times even did winter jobs at cost. Summer never. Good luck

nice prize Scott - I wish I had done that years ago.
If you are hiring out the teardown I would get a rattle can of paint and circle the entire premises marking each panel with a number code. Likewise with the roof beams. That way when it is laying stacked in a pile on your property you'll have a much better idea of how it goes back together.

They did that with the London Bridge.

So... more importantly... what's on the horizon for said foundry? Say a nice turbo manifold? Perhaps a good head for a 250? One without the siamese ports?
hmmm....?

hmmm....? Well, pretty much anything aluminum. I already have cylinder head patterns for a 12 Port head for the 250/292 engines, so I already have that covered. There is already a turbo manifold available, is there something different that you would like to see done design-wise with one?

My contractor has a scheduled day surgery to recover from and as soon as he is back on his feet in a week or so we will begin the dismantling process.
