About 2 years ago I repowered my Willys 4WD pickup... I bought
a used Jeep 258 with a T5 trans and Dana 300 transfer case out of a wrecked 1983 CJ Jeep. The combo was $1200..I freshened up the engine but the trans and transfer case were in VERY nice shape...I even reused the clutch...

After driving my truck with a 3 speed T90 and an overdrive for
6 or 7 years, I must say, I LOVE my 5 speed...I've put about
20K miles on it so far...Shift like butter and all the ratios are right where they should be.

T5's are a great upgrade for many different types of vehicles. They offset an underpowered vintage engine in a heavy vehicle by a low first gear ratio and have overdrive to boot. Glad you like it.

The T5 isn't much good for horse-play but makes a nice DD tranny and the conversion is pretty easy. Just getting hard to find them these days since each year a few more get crushed and most yards have been picked over pretty thoroughly.
