The 261 that I'm going to put in my '40 Sedan has the large, 2 quart size filter can with the 1/2" lines. The filter and lines have been painted a couple of times , I believe. I'd like to know the original colors of the can and what decals were used. Thanks.

Nothing there about the big filter like mine. I guess I will try to remove the paint carefully to see what's under it. The smart thing to do is to make sure I' going to have room for the filter first. The 235 that was in the car had the one quart filter can. What can I do if there is not room for the big can? It would be difficult to use the small can on the 261.

Tom, That filter housing the same cartridge filter as the V8s up thru 1967. You can possibly get an adapter to use the spin on PF25 or 35 on it I don't know if this is possible or not, but you could do it on the V8s. Might be worth a try. Joe
