Hi All;

I hope that this is a Bench Racing topic. I have been doing a little bit of preliminary research on high power & high torque potential naturally aspirated inline six cylinder engines, and have come up with the following:

* TVR Speed Six https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TVR_Speed_Six_engine
* GM Vortec 4200 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_Atlas_engine
* BMW 3.5l M88 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M88
* Ford Barra 4l https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Barra_engine

My selection basis is that the engine has dohc, 4 valves per cylinder, and is capable of producing in excess of 400hp and 300ft-lbs (naturally aspirated) with modifications.

For those of us in USA, the GM 4200 would seem to be the obvious choice for a sports car application. Did I miss any engines that would fit in this group?

You would probably have the most luck around here with the GM Vortec 4200.
A number of members have done work on this engine and there are some parts available.

Its hard to outperform technology and 21st century thinking with older vintage engines. The Atlas 4200 has had many guys obtain 350+HP with a still using the stock exhaust manifold and very little money spent, so this would likely be the engine to give you the best bang for your buck, and it has much greater potential even beyond 400 HP.
