Just visited a guy who has taken his experience with military aviation aircraft to cars. Over the past 30 years, he's built a number of turbo and super charged engines.

He uses an alcohol/water mix for injection. I didn't fully understand it.

Anybody else here use these techniques? Just curious.

Mean buzzen half dozen AKA Hank has experience with it. There may even be some threads about it if you have the patience to search. I think he's even mentioned system brand names that work good.

He said it was to prevent abnormal combustion where you get a spot where the fuel breaks down into hydrogen which is baaad. The water and alcohol mix prevents the breakdown.

I was never good at chemistry.

Not sure about this bit of chemistry - my understanding is that purpose of water/meth injection is inter-cooling the blades on the roots blower to keep the charge dense - to make power. To the extent that heat would lean out the mixture (leading to detonation) this could protect the pistons . . .
