I have a 1956 235 and I want to pull 200 hp out of it. I know it can be done,I just don't know how. My questions are ; how much can I mill the head,is there a better head, how far can I bore it out,what crank and rods,etc. I've built motors before, but first time for an inliner. My grandfather told me they use to build these things to fly, he just cant seem to remember what they did to them. Any info or direction to go in would be appreciated ,I don't want a V8 in this car. Dear J/K;

'Gramps' is right, it can be done. Back then gas was a quarter though.

Look for a 261" bore to 278 CID + a 4bbl & headers will work in a 56 just fine.

Your $ cost will be $3,000 +/-. In the 2 yr it will take, you'll learn more than any 'Auto Shop' could teach.

Get in touch with Old Fart Ed and see if he has any copies of his McGurk pamphlets left.

54INLINER

I still have some copies left over for the 235/261 buildup. I would be more than happy to seed you a copy. E-mail me your name and address.

Ed
