Hello all,,,I am in the middle of a oil pan gasket change on a fresh motor,,,drained oil out and flipped upside down for 2 weeks or so,,, I see some building oil and pulled a plug,,,a good Dixie cup of oil drained,, I then took off the taped up gasket I had on the head ports, the chambers are full of oil,,, can that much seep in???

The oil film can take days or longer to clear out of a block. You have to think about everything that oil clings to.

So how have you been stranger?

Hey Larry,,pretty well over here on the west coast,,,the car has been in various states of paint jail over the last 4 years,, just going back together now,,, so that much oil drains back thru the rings to fill the top of the head ports,, it’s been awhile since I posted pics on here,,I’ll try it,,

If the motor has been sitting for a long time period the rings could have relaxed just enough for the oil to go around them. The rings do have a gap and oil will find it's way around them.
