Inliners International Forums General Discussion Engines Cam shaft knowledge wanted please.

I'm going to be putting together a chevy 250 and I have a camshaft that I got in some horsetrading and I'd like to use it if it makes sense. It is an Iskey 231256, .492 lift, 256 duration, 112 lobe center. https://iskycams.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=127&products_id=367
What effect will this cam have on power, peak torque rpm, and fuel economy in comparison to a stock cam? Does this cam have any advantages over a stock cam? I'm especially interested the peak torque rmp so I can determine what rear gears I'll need to be looking for. Thanks for any expertise you can offer.

the Rpm band on it is 1500-4800 Which is pretty much the same rpm Peak as a stock cam So there isn't really a need to change the rear gearing It even says standard axle ratio. and the 112 lobe center it will have good vacum and a smooth Idle.

I agree, the gearing you have may be a good choice - try it out.
The stock springs are below what the cam mfg. suggests.

Safe to be Safe NEW with NEW. If this turns out to be just a touch taller then stock lift RE-Place the springs. Esp. if this was a High mileage motor/head.
