I would like to replace the exhaust on the 153 in my old Willys CJ2a. I'd prefer to use stainless steel, and I can find numerous options for 2" 304 stainless tubing kits. However, I cannot seem to find the piece that would connect to my exhaust manifold which takes an old style 2" two bolt connection using a donut style gasket.
Any ideas where I might find this piece? I can find then in mild steel, but not in 2" stainless

Do you have an exhaust shop you can visit? They may have what you need, or be able to source it.

If you can't find it do the steel and have it ceramic coated.

I bought a 3" diameter ball bearing. I'm going to try making the bell end in my press. I'll let you know how it works out.

Sounds like fun. It would be nice to see how you set it up.

It took a couple of tries to get the flare correct, and to figure out how to weld in the inner sleeve that keeps the "donut" gasket aligned. Basically it comes down to using a fairly short section of tube, (+/- 2") with both ends cut exactly square to get a symmetrical flare, and then pressing in the sleeve and welding it from the inside on the downstream end so the heat of welding doesn't distort the flare. Dealing with stainless tube is much trickier than mild steel, particularly but welding the pie sections to make the curves.

Hi,
Looks good.
But, if that were a Chevy six I'm thinking you have that flange on backwards.
Maybe I'm wrong.

It's a 153 I-4, the "donut" gasket is symmetrical. There is a bell taper cast into the manifold outlet, and a matching bell on the head pipe. Gasket is trapped in between. It works. I finished the exhaust system last weekend.
