My 292 was mated to a manual transmission. I'm going with an automatic now. The flexplate I bought came with dowel pins that are a smaller diameter than the old ones. The dowel holes in the flexplate are smaller as well. Do I need dowel pins? Should I have the flexplate machined to accept the old pins?

Thanks!

If you are going to use the Pins Match the old ones , The old pins are pretty much a press fit. Now what others have done is to drill and Tap them.

I dont mean to hijack this thread, but I have a 292 crank that has had the pins drilled and tapped. Can you do this and use a flywheel as opposed to a flex plate? Any recomendatin on flexplate bolts and flywheel bolts when this is done?
