i have a 53 210 with a 235 engine with a cracked block and head i want to replace it but the only motors i find are out of trucks witch dont seem to have the motor mounts in the same spot will a truck motor work or am i just over looking something the way they mount any help would be appreciated

yes they should work 53-57 were front mount late 57 58 on up went to a side mount But still should have the wholes for front mounting. Under 1ton. The 1tons had different mounts.

BigT the older 216 front mount plate installs perfectly on the newer blocks. I have one on my 261, 40 chev

The 51-54 cars have a unique motor mount setup that the other years/applications never had.
It is possible to use the other engines, but you would need to either convert the car over to the front mounting setup like on the 49-50, or if using a 58-62 engine, you could make an adapter plate to alow the use of the original location motor mounts.

When mounting one of these motors by the front motor plate, just drill the 2 holes. Changing the plate itself requires tearing half the engine apart (both engines).

The easiest way to go would be to find a 53 powerglide or any '54 car engine. That way you get full pressure oiling and it's a "bolt-in" deal. When using the 55-62 engines, the waterpump requires shortening or an adapter plate to re-use the earlier style pump.
