I'm able to acquire both engines to rebuild. Which is better? Or is it six of one or a half dozen of the other? -
couldn't wait to say that.

FYI, the 228 is a GMC block that is bigger, heavier and longer than a 261. 60 over on a 261 gets you to 270ci. The 228 would be at about 237ci. If used in a chev 37-62 the 261 is a slam dunk.
