I've got the 235 almost apart and am in need of a shop to clean it up, check it out, and do any polishing, balancing, etc. I'm located in the western suburbs of Chicago. I would like to use a shop that has done work on these engines and has done good work for others. Any recomendations?

Thanks, Bill

Good question - I bought a 235 in AZ and decided to have a shop out there go thru it. The shop has an ol' guy on staff that used to race for Chrysler Corp. & has experience with Chev, GMC & Slant 6 engines. They are going to warm up my 235 a bit. I'll bring it back to IL when they are done with it. My mechanic here in Plainfield is Tim's Garage. He has a few miles on him and could do a stock 235 engine (local NAPA guy said Tim would be good). Right next door to Tim is his buddy Harold, the machinist.
Unless you have other leads, you might want to give Tim a call at 815-436-7682 (after 10:00 am)

Good Luck,
Sherman

We have a shop about 2 hours west of you who does a lot of Inlines. He did the machining on my 261 and he is finishing up a 261 for another Inliner. Ronnie has been doing inlines for over 30 years along with many race engines. If you want more info e-mail me. Was up to Plainfield last Sunday but didn't have time to call you.
