I am looking for a PCV system for my 302 GMC engine or any ideas, how to, etc. Thanks, JLMeinert@aol.com

I took a 2" piece of round stock aluminum about 5 or 6 " long, and turned the end down so it will fit into the block where the road draft tube goes. Then I went to the parts store and bought the most common PVC they had - from (surprise) a 350. I drilled the center out all the way through so the PVC would fit. I tapped the side of it and ran a tube back to the intake and was done. Oh, yeah, I had the machinist make a cool looking twist on cap for the top of the new "road draft tube". Chevy shows this in the exploded parts book for my 56 sedan - so I just copied it and made the tube out of aluminum.

On my old 235, I wanted to keep the portion of the road draft tube with the filler cap for adding oil so we just sawed off the down tube. Welded a plate to this new side hole and drilled and tapped for an elbow to which the PCV valve connects. Also was told to use a PCV valve for an engine with about same displacement so I got one for and inline 250.

I believe the PCV valve helps reduce oil leaks by keeping a slight vacuum vs pressure in the crank case, fewer spots on my concrete now anyway.

Great how-to from Deve's 50 BTW.
