Hey folks, my 848 head is cracked beyond repair. I'm looking in my area to see if I could find another. Or, other than the 261 motor swap, what else might I use. A later 261 head? I now have a 54 235 in the car. Thanks for any direction guys,
Dominic

Dear Dominic;

There's a Company in Texas that has "truckload" of 848 heads cheap, but I can't recall who etc. Patrick's may know.

Any 261 head is okay. The 848 is popular (only) because of the smaller chamber & 'instant' (bolt on) compression increase.

A later 235 head will work too. You just need to drill the 'steam holes' for use on a 261" engine. The early (pre 54) may oil the rocker assembly differently, so check that first.

Not to worry here. \:\)

Hey John, I spent a bunch of time in the garage today. It actually put me in a better mood! Getting ready to pull the block next. I'll have to give Patrick a call. Can't give up now. It's probably just a matter of time before something comes up. Thanks for your help again John. I do appreciate your time.
Dominic
