Does anyone know what is the expected life of the Petronix units?

Mine has been in my car for about 4 years. The misfiring I have been experiencing the last few days has been increasing. I still am in the midst of troubleshooting (changed plugs, wires, and rotor and checked the fuel pump ) and I am wondering has the Petronix unit gone bad.

I had a module failure in a 55 Cadillac.The replacement unit has worked fine....(I also carry my original breaker plate with points setup)...
