Hi. What is the reason for using valve stem oil seal? If the head hasn't a high mileage on it wouldn't it prevent oil going down to the chamber by itself?
Anyway I'm thinking of making my own valve stem oil seals in a machine shop using teflon core. Don't know yet how to do it and even if it is a good idea. I can't find the rubber ones good. By the way my engine is a Chevy 250, my valves are new manley stainless steel and my head is a 64cc used but in good condition/never milled anywhere.
Does anyone use a custom valve stem oil seal?
Thanks a lot guys!

Why when you can buy the seals. Now as to the rubbers seals They come in most Rebuild kits. But as they age They pull off the top of the bosses Or just crack.
I use the teflon PC seals On my heads.

Hi!
I'll use GM Blazer 4.3 V6 ones so I'll adapt it to my Chevy 250 L6 head. They are 11/32 stem also.

Has anyone ever used that?

Thanks!!!

They are the same size valve stems so they should work.

Yes, I talked to the machine shop and they can addapt it.
They will cut externally the valve guide so the valve stem seals are fized externally the valve guide in the top of the head. So the valve guide is not made thin/weak enough to crack.
Thanks!
