Can anyone give me an idea on the cubic inch of a 1950 fire truck? It is a GMC that looks like at least a two ton. I've been told it has just over 10k miles. Any thoughts on value?
Thanks for any help in advance,
Steve Wood

The first 3 numbers on the pad next to the distributor will indicate the cu in. 240,270,302
equal that number in ci.

The 3 first digits in engine# indicates engine size in cid. It is stamped on a pad to the left of the distributor.

The value would be determined more by condition and equipment.
From what I've seen the open cab trucks tend to have more value to collectors.
To me the value would be the enjoyment I could have showing it as a restored fire truck at truck shows.

For some reason the question that I hate the most from spectators at rod trots and shows is the dreaded "WHAT'S IT WORTH?" If a guy isn't standing there with fist full of 100.00 bill I think it's a rude question.
I'll stand and answer the= how'd you do that, where did you get that part, who did the work and so forth all day long with a smile and be happy to show someone exactly how it was done though.
I've though a vintage fire truck would be a ball to own, something that you could haul a lot of friends around in or on and it sure will draw the attention at the shows. Gotta have a good siren though!!

I didn't mean to imply that I had the whole firetruck,a fellow has s firetruck that he is taking the Gmc six out of and has it for sale and I have no idea what the value of the engine would be.I have a 41 international p/u that I thought the jimmy would be great in if I could get it right.
