I know more gears = more pick up and speed but...

What's wrong with a powerglide and a L6?

I'm going to build mine for the street but I'd like to take it to Union Grove and race it too.

Any suggestions?

My limited experience opinion is that you must choose between stand-still acceleration and comfortable highway cruising. Since the PG only has two gears your engine really gets worked with a 4.11 posi rear on the interstate.

On the other hand with a 2.73 gear you can cruise all day long at 75-80 - no problems. But your off-the-line acceleration will suffer.

The 700R4 fixes this compromise; and gives you the best of both worlds. There are several other GM transmissions that do the same (T5, T56, 89MM).

What about a "Quick Change" Rearend?

I'm ditching the "One Wheel Wonder Diff" that the car came with. Its leaking and beat to snot anyway. EATON makes some cool stuff...

Would that work? How quick is quick for changing gears and how much space and tools are needed?

I'd like to throw in freeway gears for cruising then change for the strip and let it rip! I'd like to do the Power Tour one of these years too...

Anyone got a "Quick Change"
Rearend that can give me some info?
