I picked up another 261 but its just a bare block so I was thinking of swapping everything from a 235. I read somewhere that the 261 has larger piston pins. Is this true? and if so will the 235 rods work? Can they be modified or do I need to find a set of 261 rods?

You need to find a set of 261 connecting rods. You cannot use 235 rods. You might be able to ream out the small end,but it would be unsafe to do so.

You may want to get a copy of the current 12 Port News, it has the article on stroking the 261 using 292 rods and Caddy pistons. Shouldn't cost much more to do than a stock rebuild, since it involves about the same amount of work.

Do not try to modify the ends of the 235 rods. It MIGHT be possible to bush down the pistons, but I don't think I would recommend it. Talk to an experienced machine shop. Considering the availability of the 292 rods compared to the 261, I would build the stroker version.

Thanx guys, I kinda thought that. I think I'll look into the stroker route as I'll have to search for rods anyway.
