I see in the new R&C mag that T&F Shifter 541.451.1929 has an old timey shifter that mounts on Muncie, Saginaw or T10 like the street auto shifters do and moves it clear of the seat.

Can it be used in a true floor shift application or does it require a console to raise the mechanism?

Dear Phil;

Is this a cosmetic thing? Or can it be shifted like a Hurst as well?

Not really sure what you mean about a console raising the mechanism. I always thought the console covers the mechanism. Anyway the entire shifter mechanism mounts to the tranny and is right on top of the trans. From the look of the pictures a very small floor tunnel and shifter boot should cover the whole setup. Cosmetic thing or shift like hurst? The shift pattern is stock with the exception of reverse being to the left and down. And yes it looks a whole lot better being centered and forward. I am now going to run a Muncie in my 32 just because this shifter is available. The stock Muncie shifter location was the initial deal breaker. Now it will be in the stock 32 location. \:D

I really meant to ask if a console was required to cover the raised mechanism. This would be a concern to me, as I want the cockpit of my 33 to be stock appearing including the hand brake position.

Guess I'll continue to look for a 37 or 38 big buick transmission.
