Hi all
I´m planing on dropping a 250 six in my 66 Chevy II coupe,(plan was to build the original 283, but cost is way expensive for me now, and since sixes were built here, parts are widely available)
What i´d like to know is the bore and stroke (had it somewhere...), what would be a safe rpm limit?, i´d like to extract the maximum power possible (who doesn´t =)) and keep the car reliable at the same time...
Thank you in advance!

Chevytu,

hi! the 250 had a bore of 3.875" and stroke of 3.530". nice to see you're into the sixes. little warning though, they're not cheap. if you're gonna build for power and rpm, you may want to stick with the 283. its capable of turning higher rpm with less modification than the 6 and ya have a few more options for performance parts than with the 6. whatever you choose, good luck!

I'm a six guy but stick with the 283. Even in stock form it is pretty powerful. I had a '58 four door with no power equipment, stick shift, and that thing would go like blazes. It was not a light car either.
