I.m in the process to swap the new 59 pickup rearend and the 59 3 speed overdrive in our 41 Sedan.

Now I´m stuck with the trany mount.
The 41 doesn`t fot at all.
The OD Tranny seems to have no holes or whatever for mounting.

Are there any kits or adapters aviable?

Any other ideas/pics?

Thanks, Frank

Dear Frank;

Mount the rear of the engine to the frame like stock and this will support the tranny too.

Another way is to make a bracket that fits where the tailshaft bolts on the main case.

My OD tranys have a mount pad. You could have a non GM trans??

Hard to tell W/O seeing etc.

Good luck, John M., #3370......

You should have a mounting pad on the trans. The bolt holes on a truck trans are not drilled. All you have to do is drill and tap the holes if you want to use the rear mount. Joe

I had done the same with a 57rr and 61 El Camino
3 spd in my 40 chev. The original tranny mount comes out. Buffalo makes the replacement extended bracket with mount.
Very easy modification.

Thanks for asking this question. I have a 57 3 speed overdrive that I have been thinking of putting in my 53 wagon. I like John's suggestion of using the tailshaft bolts on the main case. Also the idea of using the rear of the engine. I think if you have the crossmember that bolts to the bell housing that could be used/modified if needed. If I go this way I can keep the original tranny cross member that has the emergency brake attached, and keep the emergency brake with very little modification. I have a 55 3 speed overdrive and the 57 both don't have a mount built into the tranny. I guess, just the way they made them. I don't know if this helps but good luck and thanks

Frank is that 3spd-od trans the one you bought from me ?---It is out of a 55 thru 57 Chevy passenger car.They do not have a mount on the tailhousing.The 1958 and above transmissions do.I would just build a bracket that bolts on the tailhousing.
